I finally got some mile on the bike today. Yesterday was a write off because I was still wigged out about the border crossing. plus it was kinda cold. I'm a pansy. So what.
Today though was awesome. The highways here so far are pretty good. I dare say a bit better than what we have in Alberta. Drivers are fairly courteous and don't pass to close. And when it comes time to pass someone, the other driver lets you know it's safe by signaling left. Pretty handy. That is as long as they aren't actually turning.
City driving is a whole other ball game. The roads are good and bad and worse. Giant pot holes, huge metal grates, road kill and then there are the other drivers. I did a quick jog to the right in my own lane to clear a pot hole or something dead and as I leaned, I could see the front bumper under my arm. I'm pretty sure I could feel the heat from his radiator too, but I'm not sure. A quick blast on the throttle and I was away and continuing on. No harm, no foul. The other driver didn't even touch his horn or brakes. It's just the way it goes. Pretty awesome.
Despite our planning and map looking, we still ended up driving around Monterrey for about an hour looking for our hotel. Holiday Inn! I felt kind of funny staying at such a swanky place but after the riding, there's enough adventure on the roads. I don't need it while sleeping.
Again, everyone here is super cool.
We took a small walk around the hotel area, down a market style street that led to a plaza that was holding a festival. We saw a couple of acts of the story of the birth of Jesus. Pretty cool.
We are going to spend Christmas day here and then head Southeast on boxing day.
Bike is running awesome. 150 Km today and only had 2 small repairs. The positive lead on the battery came off and my license plate almost came off but it was easily rectified. Punched a hole ikn the plate with a screwdriver and bolted it more securely.

We bought a santa pinata

Outside our lunch stop on Mex 85
Really good food, and the dudes who were fixing tires though my bike was pretty cool.
I got a thumbs up for the tread on the rear tire.
Is like a blessing I think.

This is me riding to the check in desk at the hotel. pretty weird to ride across polished
tile.

We ate dinner in the basement of this building. Nun themed restaurant.
Laura has a dish called the Pope and I ate the Sacristo. Holly the Celestial Sirloin.

Baby Jesus shortly after birth.
I think it was a boy.
